Day 9: Someone you didn’t want to let go, but just drifted.
Hmm, there's been a few people in my life that just drifted.
You have the normal HS whom you go to different colleges or separate ways after graduation. You try to keep in touch those frist few months after graduation, as you haven't made your college friends yet and your circle isn't what it was in HS. So you travel between the colleges (as best you can) or get together on breaks. Then college speeds up, the work piles on, your college friends circle is more close knit and you have developed your college life; you miss a visit here or there. Makes plans for another weekend. You go and its not the same. You/they have changed, so slowly the phone calls and txt messages become fewer and finally stop. It's sad but you're growing up.
Then when you graduate college the same thing happens with your college friends, but its because you move back to your hometown, you don't stay in the town you went to college in. Your lifestyles become different, you're not in college anymore, your priorities have shifted. You talk via the internets (FB, IM, Email, Etc) but not about anything like you used to. Nothing deep, just scratching the surface, so to speak. You know they will always be in your life, but the role they play might just be a minor one.
Thats life. People change and grow and with all that changing and growing comes the drifting of friendships. Sometimes the end of them all together. The one thing that lasts forever, are the memories you made with those friends while they were in your life. Take time to reminisce and remember your old friends, they may not be in your life anymore, and it may be for the best, but when they were in your life, things were good & fun and carefree.
**Who is someone you didn’t want to let go, but just drifted?
