"Cough Free"

Last week, Wednesday, I got a call from E's school while I was at work. She had a fever of 101.6, and I needed to come get her. I groaned a little bit as we had been every other week, since Jan.

THATS A LOT of trips to the pediatrician's office. A LOT.

They swabbed her for strep- Negative
I mentioned she had been coughing since late January/ Early February.

"Its just a virus, let it play itself out, theres nothing we can give her for a virus"

I was told if her fever lasted through Sunday, I needed to call and come in on Monday. Guess who had a fever at 2am Easter morning, yup, E.

On our way and upon arrival at the peds office, E was whining "I want to go home""I not want to go to dr me all better"

After the nurse weighed her (a whopping 29lbs) and asked what brought us in, after telling her that we have been every other week since Jan, she cleared her throat and said you will be seeing "Dr. H" instead of a PA today. I finally got E calmed down & Dr. H examined her. No UTI or bladder infection, the fever was caused by a bad sinus infection. and oh yah "Your child has asthma"

I was shocked by this diagnoses and had a ton of questions. Dr. H said E's incessant coughing is a form of asthma. Really?

He said "She has been treated with a handful of different antibiotics, prescribed by the PAs or Nurse Practitioners in the office, and nothing has worked" well a PA/RNP is NOT a doctor. "I believe that her cough is asthma. Lets try a liquid form of albuterol and if that works we will put her on an inhaler. I don't want to put her on a "puffer" if the medication won't even work"

So we left the office with 2 scripts, one for her sinus infection and one for asthma medicine.

Here we are 24hrs later and since I have given E 2 doses (yesterday AM and this AM) of her asthma medication and... NO COUGHING!

She slept ALL night, w/o a single cough! I am completely enamored with this medicine. I am thrilled my baby isn't coughing constantly anymore. I know she was so uncomfortable.

And all it took was seeing a doctor (!). Who would've thunk it?

I just have to update her school paperwork tomorrow when I drop her off and all is good. I will be calling the Dr. office (Im happy too this time) tomorrow; To schedule getting her on an inhaler, sometime next week.

Although I have paid a FORTUNE out-of-pocket for her apts, we haven't met our deductible yet, I am so happy that we have found a "cure" if you will for her horrible coughing.

I am also happy to announce that E has been fever free for going on 36hrs! FINALLY! She can go back to school tomorrow, we have both missed school. I have actually missed work!! So much I am going to have to catch-up on.

E has her first dental appointment today, I am so excited/ nervous about how she is going to do!

"VBS- Sailing the High Seas"

I will be in and out this week, as I am a "crew leader" at VBS (vacation bible school) at my church. This is my first time but I am glad I listened when I felt God telling me to do this. Last night, the first night was AMAZING. VBS runs through Friday.

The church looks phenomenal. I was blown away yesterday when I arrived and saw it. But trust me I will have lots to tell, as I already do; from one night, about my experience. I am so excited to dive back in tonight. I had a blast, probably more fun then my kids.

I have a great crew. 3 boys & 1 girl. My girl, Sarah is going into the 6th grade this fall. 2 of my boys, Jacob & Alex are going into 3rd grade and Joseph is going into 4th. Hopefully tonight I will also have my younger sister, who like Sarah, will be entering middle school in the fall. My dad/stepmom forgot that VBS started Sunday night. So Dee only missed one night.

Also this week:

E has an ETN apt... as she has yet ANOTHER ear infection. That makes 6 since Dec. Can we say "tubes". Poor baby.  She was supposed to start tumbling this week but b/c of her EI and her ENT apt she will miss her 1st tumbling class via the YMCA. I am sad but we will go next week, I need her to get better.

-and-

Thursday E, my mom, stepdad & Hayls (E's Godmother) & I are going to see Nickelodeon Presents Storytime LIVE. I got tickets for this back in June! So As you can tell we are BUSY BUSY this week.

I will try my absolute best to blog/comment this week but being my first time leading a group through VBS, I want to really be focused on God & his word and what he has in store for me and these children this week. I know that I am going to gain a lot from this experience & I hope my kids do too.

SN: Guess what happened?! E went poopoo IN THE POTTY THIS MORNING! After telling us that she had to go! Thats right, she TOLD US she had to go. Folks we are moving in the RIGHT DIRECTION to being diaper free, but I am not getting to excited, yet.

...

Have a great week everyone & HAPPY AUGUST.

"Tick-Off Tuesday"

I got this "idea" from Hailey over at yup you guessed it Be Serious... A friend of her started it. Its a good way to get those things that piss you off frustrate you, off your chest!

...

  • The peds office: I was there LAST week & I called the week before... BOTH times I mentioned her diaper rash & how BAD it was... While I was in the office, You said to keep "an eye on it" and call back in A WEEK & come in if it was still there. A WEEK has passed... its worse. 3  4 types of DR creams later and its WORSE, my baby is crying when she has to go potty! I call you and you tell me it could be a yeast infection on the skin and to try a different type of cream w.my DR cream before you will see her! WTF! I am pissed the hell off. Her peds office in FL would have NEVER in a million fucking years told me that, they would have told me to come right in. YOU BETTER HOPE TO GOD THIS OTHER CREAM WORKS IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS...  I am NOT the mom to piss off.

...

  • Rudeness really ticks me off. My fiancee & I had an over 3 hour drive home traffic rules! from the beach house yesterday & we discussed how we hate rude people & certain things that really get under our skin.-- If you're going to do/plan something that's awesome, Please don't talk about/plan it right in front of me LIKE IM NOT IN THE ROOM, if you're not going to include me. That is so rude.  Then look at me and say "what are you doing then?" Srsly.
...

  • If I do something above and beyond, some kind of acknowledgement is nice. Like a simple "Thanks" or "Thank You". I don't need to fawned over, I don't do things for the recognition I get or don't get, but I hate feeling like I do things in vein.

"Day from Hell"

So everyone has bad days. Well I had the day from HELL yesterday, the LAST day of my first semester of GRAD school, it started it the wee early, still dark, you think its NIGHT time, hours of Wed.. Started TUESDAY. Tuesday never ended. Because I never slept.

First off I was running on a little less then 3hours of sleep, if you can call what occurred, sleep. No it wasn't because I was out parting or up late cramming for a final. It was b/c my baby girl who is usually jubilant was up all night screaming with a fever and throwing up.

Did I mention that TUESDAY we were at the peds office, b/c Monday night we had the same problem, with the screaming and fever. So I called first thing and got her in at 10:15- and she has ANOTHER double ear infection! Shocker.

They gave me a RX for her and I got it filled as soon as I left there, while we were waiting she had a fever so I got some generic Motrin, as instructed b/c the PA, due to the Tylenol & Motrin recall & gave it to her. I had to do lots of bribing, as giving E oral meds, you would think is a form of torture. I even let her pick the flavor. I thought to myself, okay this is going to break her fever and then her antibiotics will help her feel better and then we won't have to do Motrin again b/c she will have the RX in her system. FTW. Got home, more torture gave her her antibiotics, then laid her down for what I was hoping would be at least a 2 hour nap. She lays right down, good start. Ha. I start on the last leg of my final project... not even 45 mins later... screams.

[THIS WAS HOW ALL DAY WENT].

She spiked a 100.2-101 fever every5-6 hrs (when the motrin wore off). Um was her antibiotic not working at all? This is her 4th E.I. in 5 mons (Dec, Jan, Mar/April, NOW-May) and all the other times her antibiotic seemed to work- INSTANTLY.

Like previously mentioned E was up ALL night and when she spiked yet another fever (100.7) she threw-up while I was trying to give her motrin. I wiped her down, changed her jammies, gave her some juice and laid her back down. She was up and down until finally at 3a she went to sleep. She was up at 6a.

Back to WEDS. Its in the 40's and raining out. I am now BEHIND on my final project that is due in a few hours, all semester I hadn't been behind once. Not even when I had family in town and was planning E's 2nd birthday party- ALONE. I had a huge project due then and I was still ahead.

I was on the verge of tears, all day, with a Migraine. I had all of maybe 3 hrs of sleep in 48+hrs and a very sick toddler, that I was doing all I could and its still wasn't good enough. She wouldn't eat, she was barely drinking. All I could think was if she gets dehydrated, shes gunna end up in the hospital with an IV in her little arm. I was begging her to drink. We watched the same Veggie Tales video 3 times in a row, it got her to drink.

I needed a binder for my project, but was not going to take her out, as sick as she was in that weather. I called M and asked him to come home early, like 30 mins. He lectured me! Telling me I should be ahead of the school work, not behind. I lost it & hung up. How dare he. E wouldn't nap, but she would relax in the recliner. So, thank God I got the last bit of my project done while she relaxed.

My poor baby let me check her temp, every couple of hours- she didn't spike any fevers during the day. She seemed to be declining, not improving. She wasn't throwing up but it was coming out in a different form (TMI?). At this point, I started to think it was from the motrin.

Finally around 4:21 she fell asleep in her crib, my FIL got home around 4:45. I left for school to turn in my project, my Prof told me in an e-mail earlier in the day to just give my presentation to her and then I could leave, I didn't need to stay. LOVE HER!

I get home and E is awake. M said she had another 'diaper'- /sigh/. She seemed to have more energy, I was thankful. As the evening wore on, so did E. She ate all of 6 small cantaloupe chunks and a few sips of juice, she was begging for milk, but not with her getting fevers. After dinner E tripped and fell and busted her lip open, around this time I started feeling nauseous, M told me to lay down while he bathed her, she had another 'diaper' at bathtime, after bathtime I see that she has horrible diaper rash and then she wouldn't go to bed- she wanted MILK.

Around 1130 she spiked ANOTHER fever, glad I didn't give her milk. At this point I was convinced that I WAS CALLING THE PEDS OFFICE FIRST THING! We got some motrin in her (we never exceeded the amount recommended in a 24hr period, I know it sounds as if we did but we didn't). Midnight/130ish idk what time it was... I was delirious. She started screaming and kicking her legs. She didn't want to be held or touched. Just wanted to scream. M tried to help but she kept screaming "NO DADA NO! MAMA" I was right in front of her. That lasted for about 20 minutes. Then she passed out & slept.

TODAY... She seems better. No fever. Still won't eat. But she is drinking more. She has more personality and not as sluggish. I just tried to lay her down for a nap (30 mins past her normal 1030 naptime), So we shall see how that pans out. I haven't felt the need to call the peds office, we just had our first 'diaper' though. I think its the motrin. I am hoping we are done with fevers.

**THIS IS WHY SHE ISN'T POTTY TRAINED. Every time we make some leeway on the potty training, she gets sick again. We started in FL right around Thanksgiving and with the Holidays I laid off, I said when we move to PA I will pick it back up. Well since we've moved EVERY OTHER MONTH she's been sick. 2 steps forward 9 steps back.

I start packing tomorrow. That dang potty seat might be one of the 1st things packed.

I had some fun stuff planned this week. But LIFE happens. Like this post? Was supposed to be in bullets... IDK how this finger diarrhea happened. Don't stop reading me, everyone has off days...

Next week I will be doing my FIRST guest post over on Blue Eyed Blonde's blog while she is "On a Boat", Yah I just said typed that /sigh/. Oh God I am going to stop this right now before this gets any worse!

...

I officially withdraw from my college next week. It will be bittersweet; I LOVE LOVE LOVE my college. I will def. miss it & my Profs. But Im happy to be going home. UCF are you ready for me?

"Not Mommy & Me Monday"

So today, as my "first day back" I decided to mix Not Me Monday & Mommy & Me Monday-- Thanks again to Hailey over @ Be Serious (which is where I got the idea for "NMM") for letting me steal borrow the idea ... She stole got the idea from Krystyn.

Enjoy...

...

Mommy & Me Monday hosted by Krystyn. Here is what Mommy & Me Monday is all about...

Krystyn writes... "So, I am starting up a “Mommy and Me Monday.” I am challenging you to get at least a picture of yourself with you child, or children once a week. Then, on Mondays, you post that “Mommy and Me” picture with or without a story or fun anecdote about you and that child (not necessarily relating to the picture, just about you and the subject of that picture)."

Toddler giggles & snuggles! The best come from my twinniekin! Love her!

NMM:

"Not Me Monday"

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. You can also check out Hailey @ Be Serious & see what she has not been up too.

-I did not almost miss my plane back to PA b/c OIA and all of its employee's are incompetent (I was there 2hrs before) and frantically search my purse for happy pills only to realize I left them in PA... THAT WAS not THE LONGEST 2.5 hours of my life!!

-I did not loose sleep for 3 nights STRAIGHT, along side my wonderful fiancee because our baby girl would scream every time she went anywhere close to her crib. I did not have to leave class early Thursday night because she has having a shitfit. It did not help that "mommy was home" I did not TRY EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN TO MAKE IT BETTER.

- I did not call the Dr. Friday morning in tears because 'SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY DAUGHTER, WHO NORMALLY SLEEPS 12-13 HRS A NIGHT, NOW WON'T EVEN SLEEP 1!!!- PLEASE SEE US!' She did not have a DOUBLE EAR INFECTION- No fever was ever present or ear pulling. I am mother of the freaking year.

-I did not have & still have to FORCE I mean kindly give my unwilling to take oral meds child, ORAL MEDS. Its a battle that I DO NOT WIN every morning. I AM THE MOMMY- SHE IS SICK, THE RX COST ME $50 (w/insurance...) she WILL take it, that is that.

-I did not buy PEEPS and leave them open on the stove so they will get hard/crunchy... the only way to eat a peep I tell ya.

-I did not go tanning- again, even though it is sooooo bad for me. I am NOT in love. Okay I am. I will continue not to go till May. Maybe- I live in the NORTH the sun seems to have forgotten about us... :(

-I did not buy try on a 'romper' @ KOP yesterday and decide... I MUST HAVE ONE this season.

...

I am glad to be back.

Don't miss a beat, keep up in between posts, I Tweet , are we friends?
