"Mom, Im Driving Home"

This past weekend was glorious! We had the perfect Friday night, grilling, playing in the back yard, eating dinner on the back porch and just watching the sun go down over our pond. It was so relaxing and much needed "family" time.

"feeding" the fish blueberries

How freaking cool is this pic? Unintentional.

Since E was out of school this past week her and I had a lot of bonding time. I loved every second of it, but I am ready for her to start "camp", she is attending camp 5 days a week from 9-2; we are nervous but excited about the 5-day thing. She started in Feb. going 3 days a week. If things pan out well with 5 days a week then come Fall she will go all 5 days a week, when did I get a pre-schooler! I am freaking out here about how old/big she is getting.

TM & I wanted to kick-off our summer (I know tech. summer starts June 21) in an awesome way. So we decided to take a day trip to TMs hometown, Saturday. He is from a quaint coastal town in southern FL.
How gorgeous, right?!

While we were there we got some serious beach time in & I got to know his family better, esp his mom. He is a mama's boy (not in the still living at home when hes 30 and calling her 5 times-a-day way, in the he had a special bond with his mom and I desperately wanted her approval way)

I LOVE HIS FAMILY!! I can not wait to be a part of such a fun group of people one day.

water for her sand castle...

checking out the gulf

Hard to believe we were in FL

TM enjoyed having reign over my camera & we loved that it was h2oproof

Having a mamadaughter pow-wow

On a hunt for the perfect seashells

She was loving that she could touch! I loved the calm gulf waters

Once we got back to TMs parents house, we all showered and got ready to go to dinner. We went to a cute pizzeria where E was smitten with TMs younger brother (21). After dinner we were boxing up leftovers and E came up to me, hand out, and said "Hey Mom, Im driving home!"

WTF?!

Apparently TMs dad told E she could drive home. I had to explain to her that she is not big enough to drive home, she was sad and cried.

I am freaking out, panic attack style, that E is in 'camp' 5 days-a-week, with a new class and a new teacher, the thought of her driving being old enough to drive would send me to the loony bin.

They grow-up so fast I can't handle it. I want a stop time!

Yesterday we swam at my moms house and floated around and just relaxed in the sun. I love watching E in the water, she is such a great swimmer, Thanks to my step-dad, he has been spending everyday, almost, in the water working with E. I swear that girl has gills.

I know this summer is going to be amazing, my girl can swim, she loves being outside & loves the beach.

I already see a lot more chalk & bubble time, watermelon hunks in the backyard, running through the sprinklers & swinging on the swings happening soon.

I could live on the sound of my girls joyful laughter & the sweet, sticky kisses she gives me, if I could. They re-fuel me, when school/work drains me.

I look at my life 1 year ago today and I am so thankful to be where I am TODAY. I have come so far in one year & I am proud of myself. I am EXACTLY where I want to be.

Thank you for all the support and love I have gotten from all of you. Your comments cheering me on, have helped me get to where I am. I love each and every one of you.

**11 days till I am a quarter of a CENTURY old! I am ready for it... bring on 25 and beyond.

"Little Minds"

Remember last week, or something, how I was going on and on about my new job? Well, I started said new job yesterday.

Simply put, I love it.

It is only part-time but combined with the dental office I will be getting roughly 40 hours a week. PERFECT.

The getting off "latish" is going to take some getting used to. I get off at 5:30- 4 days a week and 6:00- 1 day a week. E and I usually sit down to eat dinner between 5:30 & 6; so last night was a little out whack, to say the least. This job is a great opportunity for me, not just now, but it will tack 'years' on to my experience when I start to teach in 2012, so instead of starting with zero years, I will start with two because I don't plan on going anywhere.

Not only did I start my new job, but I shadowed in a Kindergarten class too. I am so excited about the profession I have chosen, I am excited to get more hours in, I am totally in my element in the classroom.

If I seem MIA here the next week or so its because I am getting into the groove of my new schedule... THX for sticking by me!!

"VBS- Sailing the High Seas"

I will be in and out this week, as I am a "crew leader" at VBS (vacation bible school) at my church. This is my first time but I am glad I listened when I felt God telling me to do this. Last night, the first night was AMAZING. VBS runs through Friday.

The church looks phenomenal. I was blown away yesterday when I arrived and saw it. But trust me I will have lots to tell, as I already do; from one night, about my experience. I am so excited to dive back in tonight. I had a blast, probably more fun then my kids.

I have a great crew. 3 boys & 1 girl. My girl, Sarah is going into the 6th grade this fall. 2 of my boys, Jacob & Alex are going into 3rd grade and Joseph is going into 4th. Hopefully tonight I will also have my younger sister, who like Sarah, will be entering middle school in the fall. My dad/stepmom forgot that VBS started Sunday night. So Dee only missed one night.

Also this week:

E has an ETN apt... as she has yet ANOTHER ear infection. That makes 6 since Dec. Can we say "tubes". Poor baby.  She was supposed to start tumbling this week but b/c of her EI and her ENT apt she will miss her 1st tumbling class via the YMCA. I am sad but we will go next week, I need her to get better.

-and-

Thursday E, my mom, stepdad & Hayls (E's Godmother) & I are going to see Nickelodeon Presents Storytime LIVE. I got tickets for this back in June! So As you can tell we are BUSY BUSY this week.

I will try my absolute best to blog/comment this week but being my first time leading a group through VBS, I want to really be focused on God & his word and what he has in store for me and these children this week. I know that I am going to gain a lot from this experience & I hope my kids do too.

SN: Guess what happened?! E went poopoo IN THE POTTY THIS MORNING! After telling us that she had to go! Thats right, she TOLD US she had to go. Folks we are moving in the RIGHT DIRECTION to being diaper free, but I am not getting to excited, yet.

...

Have a great week everyone & HAPPY AUGUST.

Don't miss a beat, keep up in between posts, I Tweet , a lot.

"Something I Always Have..."

I love my purse ALL purses. My loving fiance, M, doesn't get the need to buy numerous bags. If you have ONE then your set. He has ONE wallet. That I got him well over a yr ago, before that he had had it for MANY of yrs and it was ratty and FALLING apart.

This is the new bag I have been carrying, on & off since Christmas. I got it from my parents. Of course I'm in love w.it not only b/c its a LIMITED EDITION, but b/c its GIGANTIC.

Being a mother I need a lot of room. Yes I carry [this] as my diaper bag. But for quick trips its just my MONSTROSITY of a purse.

Many of people wonder just what's in the depths of my purse? Well b/c I love your faces so much this is a list of the supplies I need to surive stuff that can be found in my duffle purse:

My wallet. I'm a big fan of this wallet ; I snagged this off eBay, for super cheap, thats where I get most of my VB. (I put my lipgloss/chapsticks where they have a cell pictured)
This smaller 'wallet'. It holds various gift cards M & I received as a couple or individually @ Christmas/Birthday. Seeing as we only shop/eat out together in my purse they go.
A small make-up bag. It has the necessities- a compact, a few eyeshadows that match EVERYTHING, eyeliner, mascara, bronzer, concealer, blush, gloss.
Hairties (mine & E's).
A pack of gum.
Various pens.
A USB flashdrive & my oldschool iPod Shuffle (i hate the color pink but at the time, purple was not an option).
My car keys.
A lint roller- travel sized in purse- (full sized in car).
Sunglasses.
A pacifier. Sometimes more then one. (maybe a sippie cup if we're running out- ive also found a random E sock too!)
Lotion, Hairspray, Hand Sanitizer, Super Glue, Tide To-Go mini.
Camera (point & click).
Small Umbrella.
Tanning Lotion (for face) & 'eye-wear'. (my body stuff is in my car)
Checkbook.
Various Meds for headaches & migraines.
Random receipts & paper scraps

Since I've tried to ween off the 'diaperbag' when going on errands (even though its always in the back seat) I find more and more of E's crap stuff, like: sock(s), shoes, sippies, babas, toys, etc. I tried to use a smaller bag... you know less crap. NOPE. It just aggravates me b/c NOTHING fits,

"Not Me Monday"

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week. You can also check out Hailey @ Be Serious & see what she has not been up too.

- I did not cook the MOST AMAZING chicken tortilla soup for dinner this weekend. It was fab. M had 3 bowls for dinner and some for lunch on Sunday. Yah It was THAT good.

-I did not get STUCK behind a garage truck on a ONE WAY street for over 25mins. (Thx for taking your time guys) That WOULD NEVER happen to me. B/c I would never be on THAT street going to the post office b/c thats not even on the way, apparently. Thanks GPS.

-I did not think it would be a good idea to 'bake' cookies with little E and by bake cookies I mean let her taste the dough. Now all weekend she was begging me to "Make cookies Mommy! Make cookiesssss!!!!!" I did not create a monster. LoL

-I did not have mt 1st ever blogger/twitter MEETUP Sat and LOVE IT!! Rachael & I met up @ King of Prussia mall and had lunch and walked around for a few hrs. Miss E got a big girl hair cut & Rachael and I got our share of walking in.. oh boy did we ever!! haha. We did NOT get lost trying to find the crosswalk. That would never happen to two ppl that have been to the mall numerous times. Ha!

-I did not lay in bed and read, the last book by NS that I have not yet read (soo wonderful) while E & M napped yesterday instead of doing laundry. I am now wishing I would have done the exact opposite. I have prolly 3 loads to do!!

-I did not srsly threaten the lives of DirectTV employees last night as I kept loosing satellite signal during Desperate Housewives. Lord help them if it would have happened during Army Wives. So what if there was a horrible Thunder Storm. Doesn't mother nature know about MY TV schedule?!

-I did not drive around O.V. for 10 mins this AM looking for a gas station (i didn't find one before I had to be at the elementary school), cursing at myself for leaving my coffee o the kitchen table. 6 classes of 23+ 1st graders w.o coffee- Oh lord help me. not to mention THEY WERE WIRED... today was their "earth day celebration!".

"Being Mom is a Hard Thing to Do"

Hailey over at Be Serious : Wrote about how "Being Mama is a Hard Thing to Do" a few days ago & I agree.

I am going to follow suit today!

Its basically about our worst parenting moments as a mother.

There are many things that I think about NOW and just smile or laugh about. They were totally not funny at the time, but they are now. I have so many esp. being that until 2.5 weeks ago I was for the most part a single mom.

I am sharing these with you, hoping that yall WON'T be all judge-yMcjudgerson- Now without further ado...

-Right after E was born, she was about a week old I told Hayls that my kid looked more like an alien baby then like a human baby. Then I proceeded to cry b/c you couldn't take babies back.

-There was the time that I had E in her bumbo seat on the island and I had baked "Monkey Bread" for M & Uncle Andy. I turned my back to turn the oven off and clean up the kitchen & w/a few kicks of her little legs E managed to kick my Beautifully glazed "monkey bread" of the island onto the kitchen floor Shattering the adorable platter it was on and brownsugar glaze flew everywhere. I yelled said loudly so may cuss words I would've put a sailor to shame; I moved her seat to the floor, opposite the "MB" and walked away, for like 10 minutes.

-I loved the times when E would't want to eat her babyfood, so I would try and shove it in her mouth and she would let me & then spit it back in my face or on the floor. I would then tell her I was going to give her away if she didn't shape up (I would nvr in a million yrs give her away!).

-I once told E that if she didn't let me out on her socks/shoes "Jackfrost" was gunna come take her toes away. She was "scared good" all day.

-There are days when E just won't listen for anything she opens & closes cabinets, doors etc and I tell her when she slams her fingers in them I am going to let her fingers fall off b/c I am too busy to run her to the DR to fix them.

-E bit me, it drew blood so I bit her back lightly but it scared her (i swear it wasn't hard)

-She pitches a fit, kicks and screams when she has to get her diaper changed so I tell her to do it her self or go on the potty. When she says "Help Mama" I say "No" till she say "Peepee in here mama" I make her lay quietly while I change her. Its like a min or 2 till she can go play again.

-Sometimes if she wont eat a healthy lunch I will give her anything just so she has something.

-There was also the time I locked E in the car, in 80* weather, I was nervously laughing & crying. She was sleeping till- The fire dept. was called and they couldn't get into my car. My b/f who is a mech. couldn't get into my car. Finally the fire chief called, Pop-a-lock, they got into my car free of charge.

As Hailey said I agree:
"What are your not-so-proud moments as a mother? Make me feel better" - PLEASE Comment (or do this and link me...) I need to feel better about myself!

OKAY FREADERS, I have BIG, AND I MEAN MONUMENTAL NEWS:

"It's MY birthday NOT theirs!!!"

Yes you read that right... no need for a double check.

Hayley over at Blue Eyed Blonde & I have noticed a trend lately... Not only buying a gift for the birthday person but their siblings as well.

This has always bothered me but it really got to me when I was at my family Wal-Mart last week, getting my little cousin Luke his b-day gift (no i didn't buy anything for his sibling, who is still in mommys belly). Just Luke.

Well while E and I were Looking at all the toys, it was just her and I in the isle when all of a sudden this family comes flying down the isle. This woman had 4 kids under 6 (give or take?) and one on the way. Her husband? Boyfriend? whatever he was, was on his phone chattering away not helping, not paying attention. She says to him:

Her: We need to get Sammy's birthday gift.
Him: Okay. Pick something, I am busy.
Her: What should we get him, hes your bestfriends son.
Him: Woman you pick.
Her: How old is his sister? We need to get her something too.
Him: Why? Its not her birthday.
Her: You can't just get him something and not her, she will feel left out.

He rolled his eyes. She asked her son to help her pick a gift:

Her: What do you thin Sammy would like Jesus?
Jesus: This Elmo boat toy here...
Her: Okay. We'll get that.
Jesus: I want that Yo Gabba Gabba toy mom!!
Her: Okay, sit down. [now the other two that can talk join in- one is a baby and unable to speak]
Daughter: Mom if Jesus gets that I want a doll...
Mom: Fine, just be quiet, we will go get it in a second & we will get one for Sammy's sister too.
Younger son: I want chalk mom.
Mom: William, no that is too messy.
William: Then I want legos.
Mom: Okay, here [hands him the legos].
Daughter: What does Mark-Paul get ma?
Mom: Well hes a baby. Nothing.

She finally turns to the man:

Her: Mark! Okay we got a gift, we just need to get a bag for this and a card and we can go.
Him: Why do they all have toys?
Her: They are quiet aren't they?
Him: We came for ONE thing, why are we leaving with 5 toys?

[[I can tell him why! He wasn't helping with his kids.]]

We picked our toy and squeezed out of the isle. Im not one to stick around for domestic issues. No thx.

But anyways I don't get this trend of buying for siblings. It makes the birthday person feel less special & doesn't teach the sibling that you wait till your day for special gifts & special "spot-light attention".

Well you might ask what if someone buys a gift for the sibling, what do you do? You say thank you, don't give it to the child at the birthday party or on the birthday persons special day. Don't take away from their day. Also tell that person that the only person who gets gifts on birthdays is the birthday person. Then when enough time has passed you can give the sibling the gift from the gift- buyer & explain who it is from.

-OR-

you can say thank you but no thank you & explain about how birthdays work in your home and kindly ask them to return their gift.

If I remember correctly every kid leaves a party with a little something? The "goody" bag. Give the sibling one of those bad boys! They are loaded w/tons of goodies!

**Birthday gifts for siblings= A BIG NO**... that might go on birthday invitations when I have another child... right by the RSVP.

Until then I will continue to only buy for the child whos birthday we are celebrating. It is THEIR special day.

Thx for sticking with me [us]... the journey REALLY has just begun!

"Slow Down"

There isn't a set age to get married, to have kids, the dog, the house the SUV, the CAREER, the whole "picture" if you will. Every person/couple is different.

The first thing is Marriage. If you live with your S/O, I believe it's the same as being married w/o the legal paper saying that your married. You sleep in the same bed, you come home to each other everyday, you eat as a "family", you have joint friends, you talk and have conversations as you would when you're married that stuff doesn't change b/c you have a legal document stating that by law you are joined- oh yah and your last names match. [almost] Everything you do, you do together, as a couple.

I believe in marriage, I do, I want to get [re]Married one day. I want the dress and the flowers & ceremony. Its not just a legal thing its a religious thing too, I know M will ask me whe he is ready/can afford to but until then, [I] don't push the marriage card. Enjoy living together, b/c living together is wonderful too, less stresses- Marriage brings a whole new slew of stresses.

It amazes me how many people I come across, almost daily, who think that by age X they have to get married then after 1.5-2 yrs of marriage they have to be getting pregnant and purchasing a house, have a dog... don't forget they also don't want to stay home with said children & dogs. They want a CAREER, not a job (good luck with that with the current economy- even with a degree, good luck!).

Most woman now-a-days want to bring home a substantial paycheck, help contribute to the household; And lets face it 97% of households cannot run off only one paycheck. You need dual paychecks to keep things running smoothly, as to not be living "paycheck-to-paycheck". No one likes to live that way everyone likes a little wiggle room (oh boy I just burst out in the jello theme-song).

So little sally will be tossed into daycare @ 6wks old b/c ladies you ONLY get 6wks maternity leave from that wonderful career you have. And hubby, if his company has it, offers him 2 wks paternal leave. You'll be one lucky lady to work up to the day you deliver. Most can't/choose not too.

Then money starts to get tight b/c you HAD to have the best daycare, the "In daycare" yah well that one is $300 more a month then the one that didn't have a mile-long waiting list. And you HAD to have that brand new Hybrid SUV w/all the bells and whistles... b/c you wanted to be "green" b/c thats the "in" thing to do. Oh and little Sally she has to have Organic formula and food, b/c everyone at her daycare does & you buy her clothes from swanky boutiques near your home, no chain brands for your sweetpea.

Not to mention your mortgage payments are a little high b/c you HAD to live in that part of town. You couldn't live 10 mins down the road, no you HAD to live there, the night life was good, great dining, ect. Well the price of living in that area was fine a little high, but manageable until you had a baby, another mouth to feed, body to clothe, etc... Don't forget vet bills, just like Sally, Buddy has to go to the DR too.

Once you have a child EVERYTHING changes. Lets start with your body. It is possible to loose all your baby weight, if you're determined you can do it quickly. But your body is never the same, ever. You might, no matter how much cocoa butter you use, get stretch marks... Bye-bye bikinis and bare mid-drifts. Your hipster jeans/skirts will not fit you the same ever again, they will fit, just not the way they did pre-baby. Once you deliver your hair falls out b/c of the immediate lack of hormones. You get dark circles b/c you're always tired, from work, home & baby-you won't sleep nearly as much as you did pre-baby. My guess is you won't have as much you/hubby time either, too tired. No more sleeping-in. Children don't sleep in. You have less time for yourself, your child gets all of your attention so getting your hair, nails, etc done falls to the wayside... hello natural hair color! Until they are slightly older of course. You have to get up twice as early so YOU can get ready for work , then you have to get your baby up and ready too. No more quick trips to the store either, you always need the diaper bag... is it packed? You've gotta have extra bottles, clothes, diapers/wipes, etc... yes this is for a trip to the store. You never know what's gunna happen.

Vacay- traveling? HAHA!! You want to take your baby on a plane? or a long car trip (gotta stop to change Sally frequently)? Is where you're going family/child friendly? What is there for the kid(s) to do? Can you afford to pay the price for all those extra (for the kids) checked bags?

You might say to me well I do have my husbands help & support. You may yes, but majority of the responsibility falls onto the mother. Daddy helps but moms micro-manage and if its not done right [her way] she has to re-do it so until baby is older mom does a lot of the work. Don't forget his body DOESN'T CHANGE.

Having a child with your husband is quite the bonding experience. You're making another life out of your love for one another. But most people don't think about the drastic changes that come along with having a child.

You may have friends/family members that have infants or toddlers. Or you may watch TV show(s) that features young babies or adorbale pregnant women. You think I want that. Well when you have friends you don't always see the whole picture, and on TV they don't show you the not fun parts of being pregnant... (every woman is different) or how hard raising a family can be. On top of excelling at your career.

Before you set all of these outrageous "benchmarks" for your life, try living it. Don't have a set time limit for everything.

Travel (child free) with your husband first, just be married and enjoy that for a while b/c while having a child does bring you two together, your marriage WILL in fact change. It won't be like it was pre-baby; No more impromptu dates (gotta find a sitter), no more super late take-out dinners kids need routine, no more sleeping in, cuddling up on a rainy sunday to watch movies and munch popcorn, etc...

So I guess what I am saying don't have a baby b/c you think "its what you have to do b/c you're married now" They aren't accessories. They are full time responsibilities.

IDK how many of you actually read the whole thing... but its been bothering me for a while. Had to get that off my chest. Im off my "soapbox"... for now!

Lets be mature... **What are your thoughts on everything that I have laid out today?

Thx for sticking with me [us]

-Kelli-Sue
