Yesterday I wrote a very personal blog that I felt needed to be shared. I thought It might get some attention due to its nature.
I have the option for anon. comments for 2 reasons. 1) so my non-blogger friends can comment (thx guys! love the support) 2) for those who like to comment w/o leaving a name b/c they are private people (usually they are nice comments or constructive or a question...) Until yesterday!
In yesterday's post, in case you missed it you can click here , I mentioned in the LAST little blurb, about how I want to be a surrogate. My blog was about PPD, NOT being a surrogate, but it tied in at the end. Just read it if you haven't.
Well anyways I got one of the meanest comments, which happened to be anon. from someone who seems to think surrogating is disgusting. This is the comment:
"First of all I have a child. From adoption. I think this "PPD" stuff is a bunch of crap, so you cried a little after you had a kid big deal, I think you were pill searching. As for the women who kill or hurt thier kids or themselves- they are just weak. Or they just realized they don't want the kid. Its plain and simple. Then you jump subjects at the bottom to how you want to surrogate. DISGUSTING. If a couple can't have a baby, adopt. Why in God's name would you want some other woman's fertilized egg implanted in YOUR uterus? The thought makes me ill. That really is sick if you think about it long and hard and why would your husband want to watch you carry another couples baby? You are nothing but an incubator to the people anyways, they will probably treat you like crap and put you on some crazy diet because that is THEIR baby in YOUR body. They couldn't have a baby for a reason. Adoption is the way, I chose it for a reason. I couldn't have a child with my boyfriend of 9 years. We didn't try fertility treatments or anything, adoption was always what I wanted anyways and we would never consider a surrogate, thats gross beyond belief. You should really think about it you should young and uneducated."
After I read that I cried for about 45 minutes. Then I had to re-read it bc there is no way someone can be so rude, cruel.
She calls me uneducated, she sounds uneducated herself. She also sounds bitter about not being able to have children. I feel bad for her child, lord knows how she treats him/her.
I think it takes a special person to be a surrogate. I am not saying everyone can do it or should do it, but I feel I can and if I can I want to help a family have a child, biologically.
Adoption is wonderful. My daughter is eventually going to be adopted by M after we get married (he has to purpose first) so I am all for adoption!! But some prefer biology. Its all PERSONAL preference.
Grow-up people. Don't leave mean comments on my blog anymore.
Thx for sticking with me [us]... the journey REALLY has just begun!

"6, 8, MATERNITY,12,10, 8, 6, 4"
One of my LOVELY readers Nicole left this comment Friday: just thought about a new blog for you....how you lost weight. And I want DETAILS!!!!
So Here ya go Nicole... THANK YOU for the idea!! Loved it!!
----------
Weight Loss [for most] doesn't come easily. I know for me it didnt.
@ 119lbs I am 4lbs away from the smallest I have ever been (I was 115 for a short time in 06). Total I have dropped 66lbs.
It wasn't easy by any means. But I have such a small frame & I have always been very active in dance, C/WGuard & soccer & what not, that keeping that much weight on was horrible. Unhealthy even.
Granted 35 of it was "baby weight" -- yes I only gained 35lbs (which is normal... My Doc was pleased) but the rest was weight I put on b/c I let GD control me. He liked his women thick...nuff said.
After I gave birth to my beautiful daughter I was determined to loose ALL the weight. A healthy but efficient way.
So after doing A LOT of research I went back to ole faithful: Weight Watchers.
Two weeks after E was born I re-joined. I had lost about 13lbs back in 05 after putting on some weight in college & it was effecting my dancing.
I stuck to the plan- very strictly & took E on nightly walks; Thats all the exercise I was allowed to do at the time. Then when I hit 6wks postpartum and got the "All Clear" to start working out from my OB I started slow.
I did some Wii Fit & Another Wii aerobics thing . That helped more then ppl think. Then I took my stepdads "spot" with my parents trainer. My stepdad got sick then he got a hernia and totally couldnt workout with weights. I only worked out w.Ric for 30 min sessions. Sometimes twice a week but usually it was only once a week. I also rollerbladed behind the stroller.
So for those of you who think you have to do it daily. I am proof that you don't have too.
If you just make a conscious effort to park a little farther from the store entrance... Take the stairs (I get this times 5, bc of the stairs in my home) & watch what you eat. Portions & filling food help.
I took the "Slow & Steady" route. It took me about a yr to loose (& keep it off) the weight. I occasionally workout with Ric but not like before.
WEIGHT WATCHERS is designed to work with or without "hard-core" exercise. Plainly it WORKS. Go to the meetings- there are soo many locations & times I know you will find one that works for you. You can eat basically anything you want- just track your points. Its so easy.
I am still on weight watchers in a few weeks I will be what is considered "LifeTime" where I get the membership for free. Its very much a part of my life, its like second nature. I am keeping the weight off b/c I am still very much dedicated to WW & I see the final "product" everyday when I look in the mirror and when I slip into my size 4 jeans.
Thats ALL the proof I need that I made the right decision [for me] to re-join WW.

"What has happened?"
...To the world we live in? Below are just some of the stories plaguing the news. I watch the news like I watch a sitcom. I have always been glued to the news since I was little. But lately I have been finding it harder and harder to watch.
I think I care too much for the victims in the story & feel like small bits of my heart are gone after hearing and following these stories. I don't think its healthy how consumed I get w.the news but I just can't help it.
Children abducted... & Thrown away like trash. Here
A MOTHER who doesn't want her infant so asks her toddler to kill the baby. Thankfully he lived.
Children abducted... & still NOT found many months later; The [ex]stepmom FAILING numerous polygraphs. Her poor family
Animal abuse... Throwing puppies against a wall/on the ground b/c it had an accident on the floor. Some people are SICK.
A six year old being evicted b/c she's too young. They are trying to leave. Give them time.
A mothers sons ashes stolen in home burglary. They were returned.
Religious Run-Aways. NO ONE should be persecuted for their beliefs.. America was founded on that premises.
Millionaire murdering his wife. This is just horrible.
Balloon Boy. Nuff said.
Kids setting other kids on FIRE because he "tattled" on them. This breaks my heart.
CASEY ANTHONY. She has her own SECTION on the news website b/c theres sooo much info. Sickening.
If your not local you might not have heard about these or maybe you have. I just had to get all that off my chest- b/c I feel like the world around us is "crumbling" for lack of a better word.
**DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THE SAME? or am I just watching way too much news (yes I know I am) and being pessimistic or am I being realistic?**

"Good Mommy, Bad Mommy..."
...Old mommy or young mommy.
.jpg)
As you all know by now, I am a single mommy. I am also young, 23, I had E when I was only 21 (I look a lot younger then I really am- That will be GRAET... when im 40!). But in my eyes AGE has NOTHING to do with what kind of mother you are as long as you have the MATURITY.
Today as E and I were on our way out of the drugstore a middle aged woman looked at us, I was talking to E & holding 1 of her hands in the other was our small bag, She enjoys carrying big-girl stuff, as she toddled along (I let E walk if its just a quick trip no need to pull out the stroller). She sighed LOUDLY & said to her friend "GIRLS shouldn't have children until they are in their late 20's- That way they are more inept and considered a woman".
E-X-C-U-S-E M-E-!
Who is she to decide when someone should have a child? Age has nothing to do with it as long as you have the MATURITY to raise a child properly.
-I have a friend, we will call her Renea, who is 20 yrs old and she has a two yr old. She is a FANTASTIC mother. She is also a single mom with a full time job and in college. She does everything for her darling little girl. She has a lot on her plate and does a terrific job dealing. She nvr pawns her child off on someone (ie: grandma) b/c she needs "me" time. Remember she is ONLY 20.
-I [also] have another mom friend, we will call her Scarlett, who is 38 with a 2yr old and a newborn. She on the other hand isn't such a good mom. She is married. But she can't handle even giving her toddler a bath at night, its too stressful with the splashing and what not. Playing isnt much fun either b/c she doesn't play with her b/c when she gets her from grandmas house she is too tired from work. Then not to mention dinner! Oh lord what to feed my toddler- (HOW ABOUT THE SAME THING YOU EAT). Her mom (grandma) does ALL that, b/c frankly she wants the best for her granddaughter. As well as clean her house and what not b/c who wants their children living in filth. Apparently this mom doesn't care b/c unless her mom cleans her house is filthy. She has a HUSBAND who is supposed to help- but hes always busy on the computer or video games. I can't make this up folks. She has a lot but she doesn't deal well. Pawns baby (soon to be babies) off on grandma ALL THE TIME for "me" time. PLEASE. Remember she is 38.
So to me age has nothing to do with what kind of mother you will be.
I don't think complete strangers should judge ME or anyone else for that matter (b/c I know I wasn't the first- nor the last- sadly) b/c you have no idea what kind of mother I am. My age has nothing to do with that.
Not all "youngins" are all about partying & drinking. When you have a child you mature and that child becomes top priority. Renea showed us thats what she did, she grew up. Scarlett is more then 15yrs Renea's senior and acts like a child most of the time.
I believe it is all in how you were raised, who you looked up too. How you were mothered as to what kind of mother you will be. You take the things you learned & you alter them for your personality and the childs.
I have met both ladies mothers, both wonderful women. They both did a great job raising their children.
Some people were meant to be mothers, some weren't. End of story. Age has nothing to do with it. (I am not condoning 14/15 yr olds going out having babies in anyway... but I am sure yall understand what I mean)
**How do yall feel about this? Do you agree with the middle-aged woman @ the drugstore? Or do you agree that age isn't a factor, as long as you have the MATURITY?**

"Pssst, Do you have a Secret?"
I learned about PostSecret in late 2005.
It had been around for about a yr at that point.
I stumbled across the [very] first book by accident when I was just browsing through B&N one sunday afternoon. I started to flip though it. I thought to myself this is pretty cool.

I purchased it along with the few other books I had in my hand.
When I got home I threw the other books on my bed and headed to read outside with this unknown jewel & my iPod. It wasn't till I started to read the book did I find out about what PostSecret was all about and that it had been around for over a year.
I got sucked in. I read the entire [first] book, not really a big feat, w/o moving an inch. I would make a few noises and run inside to tell my roommates about a secret that I had just read.
When I was done, I was hungry for more, so I went to the website & read the SundaySecrets. Those were Quickly read, I couldn't wait till the next Sunday. It was like that till the release of his 2nd-[most recent] 5th books.
I would read on the website and in the books (and now on facebook) about all these ppl that had secrets in their books.
I always thought to myself, this is so unfair I have all 4 of Frank's books and NEVER has a secret fallen out on me.
Well all that changed, when I was reading the newest installment, Confessions on Life, Death, & God. While my daughter, E, was eating lunch I was reading through the book & when I flipped one of the pages SOMEONE'S SECRET FELL OUT ON MY LAP!!!
I was stoked.
It said: "If my mom ever sees my thighs (from cutting) She'd kill me before I do it myself"
--- Then on the back it said have you ever wanted to send a stranger your secret? TEXT ME YOUR SECRETS. I'm not a creeper I promise. And it had his/her cell # (I covered his/her number up for his/her privacy) and his/her Name.

I grabbed my phone and called Blue Eyed Blonde . And told her about it.
Sometimes I think it would be cool to txt him/her, just to let her know I got him/her secret, but then the mom in me comes out and I worry about what if he/she is a creeper? Then they'd have my cell number... hmmm.
So for now I just wonder what I would say if I were to txt this random guy/girl, I hope he/she is okay. My heart truly goes out to this person. I hope she/he has gotten some help.
I also fantasize about what my postcard would look like if I were to send "my secret(s)" in. Then I wonder, if I were to see my secret(s) on the website or in a book could I keep my mouth shut? or would I tell everyone..."Hey! Look that's MINE" ?
**Do you have a secret? Would you or have you ever sent in a PostSecret? If you have, has it made the website or one of the 5 books?**

"Who's Who?"
I play the lead role, I am KS... Kelli-Sue. I am a twentysomething college graduate who also happens to be a very PROUD singlemom to a beautiful 18 1/2 mon old little girl, E. She is my life, the reason I smile, breathe. Everything I do is for her. I am about to embark on a journey that I never thought was possible. Graduate School. I want to teach elementary school. no higher then 3rd grade. I desire to teach 1st; but won't be picky. I have a soft spot in my heart for children with special needs. The reason why brings to my NEXT character Mila-Grace or MG. She is my 4 y/o niece who was born with Spina-Bifida . She is a smart, beautiful little girl with an un-breakable spirt. In her short life she has been through a lot and yet she continues to bring joy to those around her. She currently lives with my DAD, Rusty (grandpa)- who works for a small company assembling computer chips & STEPMOM, Jane M. (grandma) who is a hair dresser together they had a daughter, she is 10 y/o her name is Destiny or Des or Dee. She is in the 5th grade, normally a tom-boy, but seems to be slowly growing out of that phase but we don't make a big deal when she likes something "girly" b/c we want her to feel comfortable enough to embrace it, not embarrassed.
E & I currently reside with my parents. Lori/Nana who is retired from the medical sales field & Tom/Papa who is in the medical field. Tom has 1 daughter, Jessica or Jess or Jessie, she is a SR at the University of Florida; she is in the interview process for Dental School. She has interviewed at: Florida College of Dentistry, Nova Southern College of Dentistry & she has two upcoming interviews @ Indiana University College of Dentistry & Ohio State College of Dentistry. EDIT: she was accepted to IUCD!!!!
Since we are on the subject of college, E's FairyGodMother & my bestfriend of over 20 yrs Hayley or Hayls or HK is a Senior Majoring in Photography @ my alma mater - UNF (See! You CAN finish!!). For the past 3yrs HK has been dating Anthony or Ant or Ewii who is a tech. for JCDJ . Its funny b/c M my wonderful boyfriend of over a yr is also a tech but for FORD... his dealership is in PA. M's bestfriend of 18yrs is Andy... E's GodFather & a Harley Tech. He is the main character of the book/screenplay that I will probably nvr finish.
While we're talking about PA people we have the in-laws, Rick/Bop (eventually Grampy) who is a general contractor. He does good work... if you live in the area give him a buzz! & Jane C./Grammy is a CPA for some big-time firm- good thing she's good with technology b/c Bop?- Isn't. But he sure does love his grandkids...Jori, 5, is in kindergarden and is one of the cutest kindergardeners ever! Did I mention what a GREAT big sister she is to her baby brother Will or Boo, 10mons (give or take) I could go on for days about this little guy. He was my BESTFRIEND while I was on vacation. We bonded. I also bonded w/Will's mommy, Jori's Stepmom, M's sister Michelle. Michelle is a [middle school] special ed teacher in Philly; Her husband, Jori & Will's dad, Brandon is also in the school system, I believe he is an Tecnology teacher. They had mentioned bring the kids to disney but don't think they will make it down.
Disney is crawling with characters... pun intended. We have that goof Courtney or BB. She is also a college student, looking to serve in the US Navy and Cast member @ the happiest place on earth. If that happy place wasn't so darn BIG she would run into Missy who is in her last semester at UCF, she is my cousin and is married to Mike; Both of them are also employed by the Mouse. Missy & Mike are Luke or Lukers, almost 2, mommy & daddy. We were just informed that Missy has a bun in the oven, we will call him/her "fetus". They all might see Ashley or Ash, who is a single mommy with a full time job and in college, she isn't employed by the mouse but makes frequent trips to see Mickey as she has a pass for her and her 2 y/o daughter Mallory or Mal, who is one of E's best playmates.
Now that you know the major players in my life here's a quick rundown of some other characters that have [smaller] roles, a role in our lives none the less:
Theres Erin or Wiggle who is also an alum from UNF we had numerous classes togther and we were very close but after I had to move home it was natural that we grew apart. We are still friends just not as close as we used to be, I still love her dearly & don't tell her nearly enough. She is dating Justin or J who is in the Navy, he is a helicopter mech. [I do believe]
Joely & Matty -- J is Ash's b/f of almost 2 yrs and he is a huge GB fan... We talk "shop" on game days, he calls me "miss kelli". M is his bestfriend since HS he is also from WI hes a cool laid back quiet guy. They both live with Ash & Mal.
GD "Genetic Donor"- E's biological father... who hasn't seen her in a yr. Thank God. He's an absentee father by choice, again THANK GOD. Nuff said.
Nicole: Fellow football fanatic & old HS buddy. She comments this blog the MOST & we need to get dinner SOON!!
Gran & Papa/Faye & Tom- My dads parents. I see them every sunday @ church. My grandmother quit her job when I was 6 wks old to keep me when my mom had to go back to work so I wasn't put in daycare, she also took care of my ailing maternal grandmother when she was dying of cancer when she had no one else. She's a Great woman. My grandfather after numerous heart probs for the last 40+ yrs and a small stroke this yr he still works... Hes a CPA... so Tax season he is slammed.
Then I have all my Bloggy friends & the rest of my HUGE family, that seems to ALWAYS be growing. :) There might be a second version to this in a few weeks but until then this should do.
I WANT TO GET "REAL" WITH YALL SO PLEASE SUBMIT QUESTIONS [[ANYTHING]] & @ THE END OF THE MONTH I WILL COMPILE AND ANSWER THEM ALL! AS A GRAND FINALE! THX!!

"DVR- Whore"
"Hi, My name is Kelli-Sue & I am a DVRaholic".
I am 100% reliant on the DVR. Next to my Mac & iPhone I think it is the BEST invention... EVER. Period. The End. No discussion.
I DVR anywhere from 17-20 shows/[lifetime]movies a week. Sad? Yes. Keep on judging you judgers.
The DVR is great b/c you can 'tape' the shows you like & watch them when its convent & fits into your schedule. It's not like my schedule is so pressing but I do have a toddler. E requires attention & playing with her is my favorite part of the day. Plus my little miss loves her some NickJr (formally known as Noggin)- even if shes not watching it she likes it on. I've tried to change it & her "pre-terrible2's" come out full force. Plus "primetime TV" starts @ 8pm. Bedtime for E is 830. So Yah.
I rarely go out on the weekends anymore so Friday & Saturday nights (when football isnt on) I usually catch up on my DVRed shows. I was nvr as big of a TV watcher as I am now, I mean I watched 2 or 3 shows, tops.
The BIG 'jump' if you will, didn't happen until I got pregnant.
I got put on bedrest early on & after reading about 15-20 books I decided to start watching TV. It started out as just daytime tv... nothing serious then IDK when it happened but I got hooked, maybe after I got put [back] on bedrest the second time near the end.
Those TV writers seriously rock!
Sometimes I feel like I know the characters in the shows. I get really involved in some of the shows I watch. I am an emotional person naturally but some of the shows I watch just bring on the "waterworks"
**Now you've seen some of my 'addictions' what are some of your favs?**

"Disgusting."
**Sorry I didnt post yesterday. I spent the day playing w.my little angel. Thats all.**
Did you hear about the model fired by Ralph Lauren b/c she was "too fat" except she is 5'10 & ONLY 120lbs.
I am 5'1 and I weigh 119lbs so add 9in to me & you get her. She is beautiful, thin & healthy looking. She in NO way is 'too fat'. I think most runway models are sickly looking.
I bounce between a size 4 & 6 depending on where I get my clothes. According to the 'industry' I would be considered plus sized. According to myself I am fine. It has taken me YEARS to come to that realization. I have always struggled with my body image.
In HS I thought I was 'fat' & when I look back on pictures I realize I wasn't. But back then I was a dancer, & dancers are supposed to be TALL & THIN. Two things I was not. I am pear shaped, my dads entire family is pear shaped.
I personally nvr had an eating disorder. I knew numerous girls that did.
One girl I was close to in HS, we danced together, almost died from anorexia . I thought once I left for college that all of that nonsense would be done and over but boy was I wrong. My bestfriend & roommate struggled with a form of bulimia . She used to tell me she was gunna take a shower/bath and she would run the water (after we had junked out while watching a movie) and she would gag herself & purge. It was months till I caught on to what she was doing. She said she wasn't doing it to loose weight but she did it b/c of how she felt afterwards. She did it to relieve "pain" the same reason people cut themselves. So sad.
I have a daughter. I don't want her growing up thinking she has to be thin to be beautiful. TV, Movies & Magazines tell her differently. Its so sad. I will have to work [super] hard so she knows differently, its all how I raise her.
I have learned that I can not obsess about my weight [in front of her] b/c then she will learn to obsess about hers. I think thats where mine stems from; My mom was always wanting to drop 5 or 10lbs and so I was always hearing that as a kid. I will not do that to E. She will not hear me talking about my waistline in the kitchen.
America needs to see healthy models and a size 4+ should NOT be considered PLUS SIZED. Why do we even use the term Plus Sized anyways? I think thats ridiculous! Why does everything have to be categorized?
I WANT TO GET "REAL" WITH YALL SO PLEASE SUBMIT QUESTIONS [[ANYTHING]] & @ THE END OF THE MONTH I WILL COMPILE AND ANSWER THEM ALL!! THX!!

"I never claimed..."
--Disclaimer: This has to do with religion, I know some are not comfortable with religion or God. Thats fine, this is MY blog & no one is forcing you to read it, I suggest I you are uncomfortable with the topic that you do not read todays post. It's as easy as that. I will not tolerate: mean, hateful or nasty comments. Period. The End.
...to be perfect. But I do have very strong opinions & beliefs. Which stem from my Baptist upbringing.
A few years ago I stopped going to church. No reason really, I just stopped going. Well thats kind of a lie, I was living away from home, in the dorms- and I was usually hungover on Sundays. So outta respect I didn't go.
When I moved back home I would go every now & again; but I have since started to go again on a regular basis and I rejoined my old church. My grandmother was elated, she is the definition of Southern Baptist & when I stared attending regularly, w/my daughter, she told me that her prayers had been answered.
It was until this past Sunday did I really realize how much my relationship w/the Lord had suffered. I mean I knew it had suffered but the sermon didn't really reach me so I had some spare time to think & pray. [Don't judge me... I can't be touched week after week]. Just being in Gods house & really talking to him I felt as if I was taking the needed steps to re-build my relationship with him.
I was raised in the church & I want E to be raised in the church. I felt like my church family were MY family. It's a great feeling to walk into church & still to this day everyone knows you & have known you since you were a lil-tot.
I haven't always walked the straight & narrow or in the way of the Lord, but the wonderful thing about him is he is a forgiving God. Life is full of trials & tribulations, ups & downs. I am learning that, with my family right now. I know that I can't do it with out him in my corner. Its been hard & I know he's never left my side but now it's my turn!
**I know this isn't my normal type of post. But this is what has been weighing heavy on my heart.**
>>Now I ask you my lovelies... Is there anything weighing heavy on your hearts that you just want to get out there? It can be deep or it can frivolous. Either way; Tell us about it >>
>>IM STUCK IN A BLOCKERSBLOCK...HELP ME PLEASE! I WANT TO GET "REAL" WITH YALL SO PLEASE SUBMIT QUESTIONS [[ANYTHING]] & @ THE END OF THE MONTH I WILL COMPILE AND ANSWER THEM ALL!! THX!!

THX!!
Don' forget I am giving away a [custom] piece of jewelry (check here for an idea) to the reader who comments the most throughout the month of Oct. -- I know that is a long time to run a "contest" but I hope since its custom that my readers will be more inclined to comment!!

"Could be Worse"
-So a reader suggested that I write why my marriage failed. She wanted to know why. Well as most of you who have been following me for almost 2 yrs know I have written about it in bits and pieces. So I told her that I would write it up and E-mail it to her, and not bore you all with the same story, just in its entirety.
As I am writing this I realized that this is not something can write in one sitting. I am still not done with it & on some levels I feel like a failure. As I pump out the words and the story of my doomed marriage- ha, if you can even call it that, we spent more time apart/seperated then together. I am in pain. Wincing with every key stroke.
Im not in pain b/c I miss him or wish we were still together, I am in pain b.c I only regret few things in my life and ever saying yes to hanging out with him that fateful first time is one of them. I mean I ended up being hungover... classy, I know. But a HUGE sign saying don't do it. DON'T hang out with him. There were soo many RED flags it's not even funny & as I type the e-mail out for her I still can't believe that I actually lived that.
But I got ONE good thing outta my horrible time with him & that is MY beautiful daughter.
I know God has a plan for me & I know my baby girl is part of it. Apparently (and luckily) "he" is not part of that miraculous plan (as he has not been around for a yr... Thank you Jesus!)
I hope to finish her e-mail this week. It was hard to get to at all this past week & weekend as I had outta town family in & they always wanted to know what I was "working on" and I didn't want to explain that one to them. But I want to get it done so I can be done with it. I know she has heard rumors & I like to stand up for myself. I like to say my piece. Give my side of the story, except in this story... I am not trying to make anyone person look more glamours then another. Just the cold hard facts.
I do what I do b/c sometimes I feel you need to relive things that in my case are painful b/c I had a huge lapse in judgement, to remind yourself... where you've been... and to see how far you've come. In my case i've come far, but not far enough.
But "It could be worse... can always be worse"

"Coffee Bean"
I know I know, you're prolly thinking "ah! not again w.the e-mails... sheeish! But I get the best e-mails and I think the best way to get them out to a large(r) number of people is by putting them on my blog. I have an actual entry for tomorrow. If you care. haha!! Enjoy this:
A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.
Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans… She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.
In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners.
She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, ’ Tell me what you see’. ‘Carrots, eggs, and coffee,’ she replied… Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft.. the mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma.
The daughter then asked, ‘What does it mean, mother?’
Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water.
Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.
The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.
The ground coffee beans were unique, how ever. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.
‘Which are you?’ she asked her daughter.
‘When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond?
Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
Think of this: Which am I?
Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?
Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?
Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.
When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
May you all be coffee beans :)
>>Don't forget to voice your opinion--...What would you all like to see me talk about??<< Im running out of good ideas. eek!

"Five (5) lessons about the way we treat people"
1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.
During my second month of college, our professor Gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And had breezed through the questions until I read
The last one:
"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the
Cleaning woman several times. She was tall,
Dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?
I handed in my paper, leaving the last question
Blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if
The last question would count toward our quiz grade.
"Absolutely, " said the professor. "In your careers,
You will meet many people. All are significant. They
Deserve your attention and care, even if all you do
Is smile and say "hello."
I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her
Name was Doris.
2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain
One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American
Woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway
Trying to endure a lashing rain storm. Her car had
Broken down and she desperately needed a ride.
Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.
A young white man stopped to help her, generally
Unheard of in those conflict-filled 19 60's. The man
Took her to safety, helped her get assistance and
Put her into a taxicab.
She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his
Address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a
Knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a
Giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A
Special note was attached.
It read:
"Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway
The other night. The rain drenched not only my
Clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.
Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying
Husband's' bedside just before he passed away... God
Bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving
Others."
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole.
3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those
Who serve..
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less,
A 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and
Sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in
Front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and
Studied the coins in it.
"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.
By now more people were waiting for a table and the
Waitress was growing impatient.
"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.
The little boy again counted his coins.
"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put t he bill on
The table and walked away The boy finished the ice
Cream, paid the cashier and left.. When the waitress
Came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the
Table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish,
Were two nickels and five pennies..
You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had
To have enough left to leave her a tip.
4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a
Roadway.. Then he hid himself and watched to see if
Anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the
King's' wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by
And simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the
King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did
Anything about getting the stone out of the way.
Then a peasant came along carrying a load of
Vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the
peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the
stone to the side of the road. After much pushing
and straining, he finally succeeded. After the
peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed
a purse lying in the road where the boulder had
been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note
from the King indicating that the gold was for the
person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The
peasant learned what many of us never understand!
Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve
our condition.
5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...
Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a
hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who
was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only
chance of recovery appeared to be a blood
transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had
miraculously survived the same disease and had
developed the antibodies needed to combat the
illness. The doctor explained the situation to her
little brother, and asked the little boy if he would
be willing to give his blood to his sister.
I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a
deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save
her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed
next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing
the color returning to her cheek. Then his face
grew pale and his smile faded.
He looked up at the doctor and asked with a
trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away".
Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the
doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his
sister all of his blood in order to save her.
I am aware this is kind of cop out but It was too good to not share. I got this in an E-Mail today from my dad. Plus I am running a contest and had to post something & I am not feeling well.
>>Don't forget to voice your opinion--...What would you all like to see me talk about??

"Fashionably Late"
I realize its Oct. 6 which means for the past 6 days its been Breast Cancer Awareness month. Everyone and their mother has changed their FB picture to this one:

or something similar.
The reason I haven't written about this significant month yet is b/c I can't seem to find the right words.
My aunt has been in remission for 12 or 13 yrs now- Thank the Lord... she was very lucky they caught it so early. Ms mom has been in remission for 2 maybe 3 yrs now, she too was one of the lucky ones.
But not every woman is as lucky as these two woman in my life. Like, A close family friend, who died at the young age of 31 b/c she thought it was just a clogged milk duct... she had just stopped breast feeding her 6 month old. By the time they caught it she was stage 4 and it had spread to her lympnodes. She left behind a loving husband, a 1 yr old, a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old. So sad. That was 5 years ago- Today.
The National Cancer Institute, a component of the National Institutes of Health, estimates that, based on current rates, 12.7 percent of women born today will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some time in their lives<<< That Statistic is scary.
But you know what is even scarier? MORE women die from Heart disease then Breast Cancer every year. February is National Heart Disease Awareness Month. It gets the shortest month & not nearly as much publicity. I am in NO way scoffing at Breast Cancer Awareness!!
Just try and remember to keep yourselves healthy ladies- Not just the boobies but your heart under those boobies too!
Do your self checks! If you feel or find any abnormalities call your GYNO ASAP!
>>Don't forget to voice your opinion--...What would you all like to see me talk about??
((I've see some bloggers do a Q&A; where readers submit questions and the blogger answers them))
Incase you FORGOT -or- missed IT ; I am giving away a [custom] piece of jewelry (check here for an idea) to the reader who comments the most throughout the month of Oct. I know that is a long time to run a "contest" but I hope since its custom that my readers will be more inclined to comment!!
The "contest" has started! Good luck & Happy Commenting! :)
**Limit... 2 comments per post, per person**
Thx for sticking with me [us]... the journey has just begun!
